I’m getting married September 2010 and looking for fresh cut flower ideas. Can anyone tell me what flowers will be in season for my wedding?
I’m a florist and the good thing about autumn is you can do any flower color scheme you want. All colors are available. However, what’s in season in Sept is all things orange/bronze/gold/red. Sunflowers are in season. Also rovers, orange lillies or yellow. Carns in burgandy, orange, yellow. Roses come in oranges/browns. Gerbers come in oranges/browns/yellows. Calla lillies come in oranges/yellows. If you like a little blue added to fall color, dark blue delphenium would really perk up an bokay of sunflowers.
There’s also hypericum, which is a berry, which looks excellent in arrangements and comes in red & burgandy. Add a littel salidago (golden rod). Glads are in season in fall, also mums.
The only thing not so much in season would be tulips. I understand crops of Lizzianthus aren’t doing well.
You should consult your own local florist. Be sure and take a budget. Any pictures of bokay styles or colors will be helpful also.

When it comes to strength and convenience, no imitation can compare with Velcro self-gripping tape. And we’ve discovered that it’s perfect to use as plant ties soft enough to coddle the most delicate flower stems, yet strong enough to hold heavy tomato plants and secure vines to a trellis.

I built my own green house and even sold several kits for them online, but I started out with the intenion of selling plants this spring. I have over a thousand seedlings already started and planted three more flats of 72 cells each tonight.
I know they sell all sorts of plants and tomatoes plants sell better than any other single plant, but I need to find out the best plants to sell and all the nurersiers are closed mouth about it.
I planted Better Boy,, Beef Steak, and Early Girl tomatoes tonight, but I am just wondering what else to plant.
I have 2 pickleing, and 2 sliceing cukes, 2 squash, cantalopes, watermellons, etc. planted and am transplanting to the 6" pots as fast as I can buy them.
What is the biggest thing that sells for a good profit????????
Try planting the ‘new’ varieties in this years seed catalogs. Join the American Horticultural Society and take full advantage of all the benefits the pros do. If I was starting out in the business I wouldn’t try to compete with the pros, I would try to sell to a specialty or niche market with varieties the pros don’t sell and then you can be tight lipped and even sell to them! I want my vegetables to be in full bloom in late spring or early summer. So, when should I start my gardening to make that possible? Thanks!
It really depends on where you live. You need to figure out planting times for your frost zone. There are plenty of books or magazines that explain this, and I’m sure you can find advice online. For early plants, start your seeds indoors or buy mature plants once planting is safe in your area.
