What flowers are available for a fall wedding?

I have been preparing for a summer wedding all year but now I will not be able to have my wedding until late October, early November 2007 because I can’t get my fiance here until then because of visa technicalities. I was wondering what kinds of plants and flowers are available for that time of year? I know florists can get you just about anything but I am working with a smaller budget and was thinking about buying potted plants and flowers from a nursery to add greenery and color. The wedding will be outside so I need some plants to liven up our garden that will be mostly dormant by that time. This has been very last minute news and I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

If you’re in North America, the California Cut Flower Commission lists product availability for the major fresh cut flowers. I’d use that as a guide, then contact your local florist for the arrangements. Most florists can work with any budget and they would likely be cheaper than buying potted plants out of season. Congratulations and good luck!

What plants are suitable for Delhi’s extreme hot and cold climates?

I want to grow some perennial evergreens that can withstand the extremes of Delhi’s summer and winters. Plants need to be either succulents (not cacti’s), herbaceous, ground covers or small shrubs. No trees, large shrubs, aquatic plants or marginals.

How do I find gardening instructions?

Posted by admin | Posted in Gardening | Posted on 14-12-2009

I recently learned how to turn on a computer and I need advise of where the best gardening tips are for my yard gardening.

I am trying to grow tomatoes, squash, peppers, melons, onions, etc.

These sites might help –
http://www.gardenguides.com/how-to/tipstechniques/vegetables/veggie.asp
http://www.ehow.com/how_110539_start-vegetable-garden.html

You could also try google, and either search starting a vegetable garden or how to grow…(an individual plant like tomatoes or peppers, etc.)

How long do the flowers of a Christmas Cactus last?

Posted by admin | Posted in Flowers | Posted on 14-12-2009

I received a Christmas cactus about 2 1/2 weeks ago with some buds just starting and some buds almost all the way open. Since then, most of the flowers have bloomed beautifully, but about a week after the flower blooms, the flower itself starts to wilt and shrivel. Is this normal? The rest of the plant looks healthy, it’s just the flowers that are starting to shrivel up after blooming. If this is normal, should I pinch off the wilting flowers or just leave it alone?

Yes, it’s normal. A Christmas Cactus’ blooms will last anywhere from a week to two weeks. You can pick them off when they start to fade, as soon as they’ve lost their perkiness. A wilted flower will only drain resources from the plant, so picking off the faded blooms will keep the plant happy.

What plants can eliminate air pollutant in house or office?

Dear someone, please help me to know the name of some plants can eliminate air pollutant in the office or insine the house. The plant can help to reduce some pollution from computer or printer? Thanks very much
Kiddo

Although it should be safe to presume that all plants are capable of removing toxins from our air, research by NASA showed that some house plants are more efficient in filtering out toxins than others. Philodendrons, Spider plants, and Pothos were found to be the most efficient in the removal of formaldehyde. Gerbera Daisies and Chrysanthemums were found to be effective in the removal of benzene, a known carcinogen.

As a rule of thumb, allow one houseplant per 100 square feet of living area. The more vigorous the plant, the more air it can filter. Keep in mind that plants will not do much to alleviate tobacco smoke or dust in the air.

Air purifying house plants are listed below:-

Chinese Evergreen
Aloe Vera
Spider Plants
Chrysanthemum sp. (Mums)
Dumbcane
Golden Pothos
Ficus
Gerbera Daisy
Common English Ivy
Heart leaf philodendron
Spathiphyllum sp.

How can I protect myself and daughter while gardening in the yard?

Besides insect repellent lotions or sprays. Is there anything further I should use to minimize insect bites? Mosquitoes are ramped in my area. And now that the weather is getting warmer, I’d like to some pruning and gardening. Is there anything additional I should do to protect myself and dear daughter?

Even if it’s a little warm, you would be more protected by wearing long-sleeve shirts and jeans instead of shorts. Also, to protect yourselves from the sun, wear gardening hats to shade your face and head. If you’re gardening, it’s always a good idea to wear gardening gloves. You might also want to not garden during the hottest part of the day, when mosquitoes are more lkely to bite.

Are there any flowers that grow well indoors? It’s difficult to grow them outside during the winter season, so I would like to plant flowers I can start out by growing indoors then when the weather gets better it will grow outside.

i would definely reccomend amarillys, they are big bulbs, they have beautiful flowers, and you can gro them inside in the winter from october to the end of april,in fact i have one in my house wich i planted a week ago and is staring to came out, they take from 6 to10 weeks to bloom, this is more like an indoor plant
