My inside cats eat my house plants! Is there something that I can do to my plants to make them unappealing to my cats that’s safe for my cats and my plants, and if so, is there a specific plant that’s safe for cats that I can use to try it first to make sure that it works for my cats before I take the risk of putting all of my plants where the cats can get to them?
I wouldn’t have any houseplants (real ones) in my house with my cats. If they are one of the poisenous ones (which are many) your cat could end up with seizures, heart failure, any number of things.
I’d take them outside in a shaded area or somewhere where they won’t get too cold since they’re indoor plants.

I have two cats who eat my flowers and house plants. The only house plant that survives not only my neglect but my cats is the most common house plant, the heartleaf philodendron. You can buy these plants at alost any home improvment store. The other option is to buy a small squirt bottle, if they start to eat your plants give them a squirt and eventually they will learn.

The best thing you can do for your houseplants is to put them where your cat cannot get to them. Hanging from the ceiling is a good choice, as Elaine mentioned. Perhaps you could offer your cats a few plants that are safe for them to nibble on, to satisfy that urge. I know that spider plants are safe, and of course, cat nip (which can be quite attractive when full grown, if you can get it started before the cats get to it). Best thing to do here is put your plants where your cats cannot get to them, like hanging plants high off the floor etc. Cats tend to eat houseplants and many of them are poisonous so its just not worth it. Put your plants in a room that the cats cant get into or remove the plants altogether if you cannot put them where the cats cant get at them
