Right now all I have are fake plants and I want to switch to live ones. What types of plants can I use and what exactly would I need to have to keep them, lighting and all.

You wanna get soil from the pet store. I have exo terra plantation soil, which is good. Don’t use soil from outside.

I have all live plants in my tank. Any type of tropical looking plant is good, avoid something that has sharp thorns on it. Anything that looks like it could go in a jungle is fine. You don’t really have to worry about him breaking the plants, as long as theres room on ground for your dragon to walk and move around. taller plants are better. the plants need to have lots of water. You don’t need to fertalise them and the light that is given off by your heat lamps and uvb lamps are good enough to keep the plant alive, thats what i have. As long as the soil is ALWAYS damp/wet the plants wont start to die. If you don’t keep lots of water it will start to die.

Good ones are Water Wisteria, Amazon Swords, Java Ferns, and a Grass Plant. Weaker plants are the Cabombas, which he will probably rip up after moving near them.

To keep the plants, you can either get a special fluorescent bulb that says it is good for plant growth (like "Flora-Glo") or you can just use the same light you have and buy a cheap bottle of liquid plant fertilizer. Put a few drops in every water change, it is food for them when they dont have the correct lighting.

I use the liquid fertilizer. A decent sized bottle is less then $10 at a pet store.
