I don’t have a HUGE yard, but medium sized and would like to do some planting. We just moved to El Paso so the climate is hot and windy! Please tell me what would be some good low maintinance plants/flowers(I would like to see some color) to have in my yard, also wouldn’t mind some sort of small shade tree or flowering tree as long as it does not get huge. And NO I do not want to plant any sort of cacti. Thanks for any help!

Succulents are best a they do not need too much water and they can stand hectick heat. I live in Sunny S.A…
Good ground cover with brilliant flowers and inticitely desighned leaves: Portulaca pazazz (Grows real fast)
Creepers (dont take up any space as they go on walls or fences): Bouganvilla (actully flowers more if it’s having a tuff time), otherwise Jasmine (It smells delisious!)
Rock roses are cool (also called cistus) can take lotsa heat and looks real pretty. Cassia tree has small sweat pea flowers and doesn’t go bigger than bout 3 meters. There are some suggestions as I also live in a hot windy place with a small garden.
:)
You’ll have a beautifull fragrant garden in no time!
